Frequently Asked Questions

  • The fee for an initial evaluation is $225. The fee for individual follow-up sessions is $190 per 50-minute outpatient session. There is an additional charge of $25 per hour for after-hours (5:00 p.m. or later) appointments. Longer or shorter sessions are prorated from this basic fee. Fees for other professional services such as report writing, telephone conversations longer than 10 minutes, attendance at meetings or consultation which you have requested, or the time required to perform any other service which you request, will be determined on an individual basis and will be discussed with you in advance.

Payment is expected at time of service. Central Coast Anxiety & OCD takes cash, checks, and most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover).

A minimum of 24-hours notice is required to reschedule or cancel an appointment. The full session fee will be charged for missed appointments.

  • At this time, Dr. Gannon is considered an out-of-network provider and does not accept insurance. However, she can provide you with an invoice that includes the billing codes necessary to obtain reimbursement from your insurance company.

If you plan to use insurance, you may want to contact your carrier to determine what your out-of-network mental health benefits are.

    Questions to ask include:

    1) What are my out of network mental health benefits?

    2) What is the allowable rate for the following CPT codes: 90791 (Psychotherapy Intake), 90834 (Individual Therapy Session 38-52 minutes), and 90837 (Individual Therapy session 53+ minutes)

    3) What percentage of the allowable rate will you reimburse me?

    4) Is there a deductible that I need to meet before I will be reimbursed?

    5) How do I submit my claims for reimbursement?

  • Central Coast Anxiety & OCD treats all obsessive-compulsive related disorders (OCD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Trichotillomania, Excoriation Disorder) and anxiety-related disorders (Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Separation Anxiety, Phobias, Perfectionism, Health Anxiety, Panic Disorder).

  • Sessions are typically 50-minutes long once a week, although Dr. Gannon may recommend longer or more frequent sessions if needed. These sessions may be more appropriate for certain situations such as family interventions, exposure therapy, and intensive treatment.

  • At Central Coast Anxiety & OCD, we try to work on a short-term model. However, we also understand that not all problems are created equal. You will devise a custom plan with Dr. Gannon that fits your goals and how long you want to be in therapy. Some clients choose to complete a few sessions, where as others may continue for years. The commitment is really up to you!

  • Central Coast Anxiety & OCD is not appropriate for individuals who have primary depression, active addictions, active eating disorders, and/or are actively suicidal. Individuals may need to receive treatment for these conditions elsewhere prior to engaging in our services. For those individuals who have received treatment for these conditions (i.e., are in recovery) and would like some continued support during their anxiety treatment, Dr. Gannon has the ability to work with additional outpatient specialists (e.g., addictions counselors, eating disorder specialists) as needed.

In addition, clients who are not motivated for treatment are probably not appropriate for our clinic. Because treatment requires individuals to face their fears and experience discomfort, it requires a high level of motivation to complete and be successful. Individuals who are entering treatment only because of pressure from family members tend to make less progress than those individuals who commit to engaging in treatment on their own. However, Dr. Gannon does work with those who are ambivalent about engaging in treatment (e.g., those who may be afraid to give up the safety of their current behaviors); at the same time it is very important that they are motivated and willing to change.
